Jennings, Packers not concerned over injury

Greg Jennings was in quite the good mood Thursday, and with good reason. Not only did the Green Bay Packers wide receiver become a dad for the third time Wednesday – his wife, Nicole, gave birth to the couple’s third daughter, Ayva Nicole – but he was back on the practice field after sitting out Wednesday’s practice with a sprained foot.

Jennings, who limped out of the locker room following Sunday’s loss to Atlanta, said he had an x-ray and MRI done on the foot after getting it caught underneath a defender as he was being tackled on his first reception of the game.

“I’m good. I’m working my way through it,” Jennings said. “Is it sore? Of course. But Week, what is this, 13? You’re going to have things that are going to nag you. It’s crunch time. Like I told coach – I’ve told (wide receivers) coach (Jimmy) Robinson, I’ve told Mike (McCarthy) – it really doesn’t matter what’s ailing anybody right now, it’s go time. So if you can play, you’re going to be out there.”

Jennings said he played through the injury but it started bothering him late in the game, worsening afterward.

“The swelling didn’t occur until after the game,” Jennings said. “I was nervous on the plane. I did talk to Doc (Pat McKenzie) on the plane. I went up to him and I’m like, ‘OK, I need to know.’ He kind of felt around my foot. He was like, ‘Does this hurt? I’m like, ‘No.’ He’s like, ‘Does this hurt.’ I’m like, ‘No.’ So, OK, that’s good. I’m like, ‘OK, that makes me feel better.’ So then on Monday we got an X-ray and MRI and everything checked back good, outside the swelling. I mean, does it hurt? Yes. But does it hurt enough to sit out practice and the game? No.”

Said McCarthy: “He’s not concerned, I’m not concerned."
