The running back shuffling continues in the AFC, and this one is intra-division. The Bills needed a between-the-tackles banger with only James Cook and Nyheim Hines on the roster, and they got one. Harris had slowly grown out of favor in New England as Rhamondre Stevenson took over a more three-down role. Assuming Buffalo doesn't draft a Day 2 RB, Harris has a chance to replicate his TD-heavy season from 2021.
Cole had bounced around to three different teams in three seasons, so it's nice to see him build on a second year with Las Vegas. He had a career-low year with the Raiders in 2022, but maybe this signing means they have bigger things planned for him.
Howard, 28, has slumped the past two seasons statistically, but a move to the Raiders could be the fresh start he needs to get back on track. At the least, he can be a situational down-field threat for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo while also lending a hand as a solid run blocker.
This infringes on what incumbent Foster Moreau does well, so we could be in for a long season for anyone looking for production from either option. Howard hasn't had more than 16 catches in a season since 2019.
