Shepard was cleared to return from his second concussion of the season by team doctors and an independent neurologist Friday, but reported a return of symptoms Saturday night. He is back in the five-step NFL concussion protocol, did not play Monday against the Cowboys and is prohibited from speaking to the media by rule.
Shepard has suffered two concussions this season, one in Week 1 and then another after missing two games and coming back in Week 5. In both cases, Shepard returned to the games. This time, the question is how did he make it to step five - which is full-contact practices - and gain clearance if he still had a concussion, the story wondered. The story added it's possible he's shut down for the rest of the season.
