Falcon QBs Tua Tagovailoa, Michael Penix to split first team reps

After being cleared for all football activities, Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is set to truly enter Atlanta’s quarterback competition.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters on Monday that Penix and Tua Tagovailoa will split reps with the first-team offense on Monday.

Fantasy Impact:

Tua hasn't run away with this QB competition despite Penix not being able to fully compete, recovering from a torn ACL. Given the timeframe, it seems unlikely Penix wins the starting job at this point. However, if Tua continues to have his struggles, it's not out of the question we see Penix at some point this season. The story did say Penix could get time in the team's final preseason game against the Dolphins so it may be worth keeping an eye on that.

Great news for Nabers as he continues his quest to be ready for Week 1 against the Cowboys. Raanan mentioned that Nabers had three reps in 11-on-11 and three in 7-on-7 drills. He made a really nice catch when he went down and plucked a pass off the turf.

Trade! The Patriots are sending WR Kayshon Boutte to the Texans for safety Jaylen Reed and a draft pick.

Related players: Nico Collins, Jayden Higgins, Jaylin Noel, Tank Dell

Fantasy Impact:

The trade makes a lot of sense for both teams as Boutte was buried on the depth chart in New England when the Pats added Romeo Doubs and A.J. Brown. With Higgins lost for the season for the Texans with a torn ACL, and Dell coming back from a serious knee injury, Boutte could step right in as a deep threat option. Last year, Boutte had 33 receptions for 551 yards and six touchdowns. He should at least be on your fantasy radar.

Josh Jacobs is taking team reps after returning from groin injury.

Fantasy Impact:

The even better news is Jacobs looks fresh, according to the rest of Wood's post. Wood went on to say Jacobs had a good burst in the middle on his inside zone runs. Jacobs is one of a few NFL players who could be subject to discipline by the league and could get suspended. But he seems to back from his groin injury.
