Eagles OC: We need to get Maclin the ball "a little more"

Jeremy Maclin, playing in his first game since a cancer scare, was targeted just three times by Vick in the Eagles' 31-13 win at St. Louis. Of those passes, Maclin, who was on the field more than any other receiver, caught just one for 20 yards.

"He was, by play, the No. 1 [target] more than you would think with one catch," Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said. "The ball went in some other ways. And then it's my responsibility getting him the ball just a little more."

The third-year receiver certainly has been targeted as infrequently in previous seasons, and one game is hardly an adequate sample. But Maclin's progress bears watching after he missed training camp and all four preseason games.

As long as he has any symptoms of the virus that sidelined him for weeks, Maclin and the Eagles said, he likely will need a few outings to get his football legs back.

"I felt fine," Maclin said after the game. "My legs are fresh. It wasn't any of that."

Fantasy Impact:

We aren't too worried about Maclin's targets -- this is probably a one-game blip. It's nice to hear that Mornhinweg realizes that Maclin went underutilized in Week 1.
