Dolphins Beat: Team will lean on the 'hot hand' at running back

Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said he plans to trust his coaching instincts with the running game on Sunday. If one running back is having success against New England and getting the hot hand, that could lead to the Dolphins leaning on Knowshon Moreno or Lamar Miller more than the other.

"We'll see how the game unfolds," Philbin said. "I expect both of those guys will get some carries. We don't have a set number today of Lamar is going to get X and Knowshon will get X. We'll see."

Fantasy Impact:

The Dolphins backfield might be the most murky RBBC heading into the season. Miller has been atop the depth chart all offseason, but Moreno is back (and healthy), and has been impressive in his limited preseason opportunities. The team went out and signed Moreno in the offseason, so we believe that they are more invested in him than they are in Miller. Moreno is probably the better all-around back, so if he stays healthy, he will likely lead the team in touches this season. We currently have Miller a shade ahead of Moreno in our draft rankings, though Week 1 should shed some light on how the team intends to use each of the backs on game day.
