Adam Gase talked last week about Sam Darnold being more assertive in the huddle and more comfortable in the offense. Darnold has been telling Gase what he wants to run and how he wants to run it based on what he sees from the defense. Gase said this was a huge step for Darnold and showed his growth.

The story said Gase will be evaluated on whether Darnold grows and improves this year. Darnold rebounded against the Giants. He led three touchdown drives – Darnold had a rushing touchdown and threw for one – and wasn’t intercepted for just the second time in six games this season.

Sam Darnold had to have his left thumb taped after spraining it during the game and head coach Adam Gase said on Monday that the injury will “bother him all year.” Darnold concurred and said he doesn’t expect it will keep him from playing at any point.

Luckily the injury is to his non-throwing hand. Darnold said it's more of a pain issue but he'll be fine playing through any pain issues that come up with the injury he said.

The injury occurred in his non-throwing hand and he remained in the game, totaling 218 yards against the Jaguars defense. Darnold was also picked off three separate times on Sunday, a week removed from throwing four interceptions in his previous outing. He said the injury didn't affect his play.
