Cowboys concerned about Joseph Randle's well-being

Joseph Randle did not play in Sunday’s 13-12 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in part because of a strained oblique, but Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said the team is concerned about the mental well-being of their running back.

“I'm always concerned as to any issues regarding the [mental] health of a player," Jones said. "It's a lot more serious than the football [injury].”

Randle has been excused from the team since last Wednesday. According to sources, Randle is facing discipline for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, stemming from an incident in Wichita, Kansas, last winter.

Randle made a call to Irving, Texas, police last week because of concern about the whereabouts of his girlfriend. However, no wrongdoing was found. The Cowboys have said Randle is dealing with a personal issue on top of the personal-conduct policy penalty and losing his starting job.

Fantasy Impact:

The NFL could announce a decision on Randle’s status as soon as Monday, according to a source. He could face a suspension or fine. He met with NFL officials in September after he was cleared legally from a domestic-violence call involving the mother of his son. From a pure fantasy perspective, it's gives Darren McFadden a big upgrade in value at least for the short term, but definitely until Randle's situation has more clarity.
