Carson Palmer unsure when he'll return

The Cardinals said all last week that they expected quarterback Carson Palmer to play against the Giants even though he was only practicing in a limited fashion because of a shoulder injury.

On Sunday, Palmer said that wasn’t quite accurate because he was never close to playing in Week 2 because of the nerve issue he’s dealing with in the shoulder. Palmer said that he isn’t sure when he’ll be able to return to the lineup because doctors don’t know how long it will take for the issue to resolve itself.

“They said my shoulder was stretched out and I landed on the nerve, shut the nerve down,” Palmer said, via the Arizona Republic. “It’s just one of those things you’ve just go to wait and hope it wakes up. There’s no, ‘it needs 48 hours. It needs six days, it needs 12 days. You just don’t know.”

Fantasy Impact:

Drew Stanton would get the call if Palmer can't go in Week 3, a tough divisional matchup against the 49ers. With a bye in Week 4, it's very possible Palmer again sits in Week 3 and then comes back Week 5. Stanton didn't turn the ball over but didn't look overly impressive either, throwing for 167 yards. Stanton brings down the value a bit of WRs Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald in what was already a tough matchup against San Francisco.
