Browns release RB Ben Tate

Browns announced they have waived RB Ben Tate.

Fantasy Impact:

The writing was on the wall following Week 11's game, as Tate was not happy with his limited role in the team's loss against Houston, Tate's former team. Still, it's a bit surprising this happened so quickly. Isaiah Crowell very well could benefit the most here, but we think both Crowell and Terrance West are playable backs going forward.

Outside of a matchup with the Bills in Week 13, the Browns have a very good slate of RB matchups the rest of the way (ATL, BUF, IND, CIN, CAR). The team stuck with Crowell even after fumbling early on, and he came into Week 11 with a much better yards per rush average (4.59) than either Tate (3.13) or West (3.64). The addition of Josh Gordon could very well open up the running game a little more too, which is obviously good news for owners of both.

Clearly, Crowell and West are worth a pickup if they are available in your league. Tate owners should hold tight and see where he lands. He has to clear waivers before becoming a free agent.
