Brandon Jacobs has a sprained MCL

Update: Giants beat writer Mike Garafalo on Twitter: "Brandon Jacobs' injury per @AdamSchefter on ESPN just now: sprained MCL. Will let you know in about an hour if he's practicing today."

Giants RB Brandon Jacobs sat out his second straight practice Thursday as he continued to nurse swelling in his left knee. His status for Sunday's game against the Seahawks has yet to be determined, but he is at least ready to test the knee.

"I feel pretty good," he said. "Just waiting for the time they unleash me and let me do a little running and stuff like that. But I feel good."

Jacobs said he hurt his knee in the third quarter of Sunday's win over the Cardinals in Arizona. He remained in the game, however, rushing for a 1-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

He has not practiced all week. He rested on Wednesday. Tom Coughlin said then that Jacobs was "scheduled" to practice Thursday. Instead, he was resigned to light jogging and biking during the portion of practice that is open to the media.

Jacobs has played all 16 regular-season games just twice in his career, and he has a history of knee problems. Just two seasons ago, he was laboring with a right knee condition that required surgery.

He wanted to work through practice Thursday, Coughlin said, but team trainers held him back. And Coughlin is unsure whether Jacobs will be ready Sunday.

Fantasy Impact:

If Jacobs can't go, the Giants would give Ahmad Bradshaw extra work and use Danny Ware in a change-of-pace role. Ware has just three carries on the season thus far.
