Prescott finished as the fantasy QB4 in 2023, throwing for 4,516 yards and 36 touchdowns against just nine interceptions. Last year, he left a couple of games early and only played eight total games, but he was on pace for 4,638 yards and 25.8 touchdowns. Those numbers would have made him a high-end QB2 type on a per-game basis. The Cowboys attempted the eighth-most passes in 2023 and were third last year. Since last year’s OC, Brian Schottenheimer, is now the head coach, I’m not expecting a huge sea change in the team’s offensive identity, especially since the team let Rico Dowdle walk and traded for George Pickens. Prescott being available as a midrange QB2 is a good example of the solid depth of the position this season.

A year ago at this time, Dak Prescott was being questioned about a photo that surfaced of him on vacation wearing a walking boot on his right foot. No such injury concerns this year as the Dallas Cowboys franchise quarterback prepares for his 10th training camp.

“I’m healthy,” Prescott said Tuesday from his annual youth football camp. “I’ll be a full-go for camp. I’m healthy. I think soon here I’ll probably get the official sign-off from Doc, but I’m healthy.”

Fantasy Impact:

The article goes on to mention Prescott's excitement around his potential connection with newly added George Pickens, which is clearly what we want to hear. Pickens and CeeDee Lamb create the best 1-2 punch we've seen at the quarterback's disposal and could help Prescott return to the heights we saw from him in his near-MVP season of 2023. We currently have him ranked in the middle ground of the league's QB2s, but he will consistently be on the streaming radar in plus matchups.

While the Cowboys have made it clear that they're going to run the offense through the passing game, it has to be a little concerning that their No. 2 WR options are now down to Jalen Tolbert, Ryan Flournoy, KaVontae Turpin, and Jalen Brooks. Dak Prescott has also been playing nowhere near his near-MVP levels last season, more than doubling his turnover-worth pass rate (5.1%-to-2.2%), with his adjusted completion percentage dropping from 77.0% to 70.4%.

Prescott is a fringe QB1/2 in a matchup that could turn into a shootout.
