Week 9 Revenge Games: 1 Player Out to Torch His Ex-Team

This week, I figured the call could come from inside the house since it's a very light revenge week. Instead of a movie, song, or historical reference, I am going with a tale of NFL revenge.

After 13 seasons with Carolina, WR Steve Smith was released by the Panthers in March of 2014. He left as the franchise's all-time leading receiver and didn't exactly leave town quietly. Smith signed with Baltimore shortly after his release and warned that when the Ravens faced Carolina, there would be "blood and guts everywhere."

And he delivered. In Week 4, Smith torched his former team for 139 receiving yards and two touchdowns as Baltimore beat Carolina 38–10.

Before I get into this week's revengers, let’s look at how Week 8 shook out in half-PPR scoring.

Week 9 Revenge Seekers

Saquon Barkley (PHI) vs. Giants

We have the first of two revenge contests for Saquon Barkley this week, as he will face his former employer from 2018-2023, the New York Giants. He's blazed the Giants a few times before but is currently dealing with hamstring and back issues. Keep up with his progress through practices as we get closer to Sunday's matchup.
