Quarterback Streaming Week 9

We got a much-needed offensive jolt in Week 8. The early slate featured five games at or above 45 points. On the positive side, Philadelphia got to a point where they could pull their starters ahead of their Thursday night game. Meanwhile, Jarrett Stidham had to come in as the Saints handed the Raiders their first shutout since 2014. The stunning performances drowned out some of the duds, but we still have some streaming options for Week 9.

I sense a trend. Or I’m cursed. My top play falls short again, but the deep recommendations have picked up the slack. Daniel Jones’s rushing upside was the key to his fantasy production. However, the Giants didn’t use it as they had in weeks past.

Jones was averaging 5.7 designed attempts per game over the last three weeks. His first attempt didn’t come until the second quarter, and he finished with only three. Seattle was hemorrhaging 144.0 yards of rushing production per game over their last three contests until the Giants came to town. We can’t pick on the Seahawks’ defense like we used to, but at least a couple of the other streamers came through in Week 8.

Deep P.J. Walker 16.7 18
Deep Sam Ehlinger 7.5 26

Sometimes offensive game plans can be simple. And getting the ball to your best players simplifies things for any quarterback. Fantasy managers prefer Jameis Winston because of his aggression, but just keeping the offense in rhythm is a skill only Dalton seems to possess. I’ll have more on Dalton in a bit, as he has another positive matchup in Week 9.

I’ll take those results any day. What a throw, and I’m with Ben Gretch on D.J. Moore’s reaction. The Panther’s offense was tough to watch before the final quarter. They averaged 30.3 yards per drive in the first half and 44.3 to force overtime. Walker needed the push from Atlanta to continue passing, as D’Onta Foreman accounted for three of their four touchdowns. With Walker’s accuracy (-5.4% CPOE, 31st) a concern, we’ll need near-perfect conditions for Walker to be a viable option. Let’s reevaluate things in Week 10, but let’s get to this week’s recommendations.

So, let’s go back to Rosenthal’s tweet. And let’s assume New Orleans hasn’t traded Alvin Kamara away by the deadline. Regardless, Rosenthal is right. Dalton has kept the ball in his star running back’s hands.
