Week 2 Fantasy Football Practice News & Notes for Thursday

Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (right wrist) took full practice reps again Thursday. Bortles only attempted 21 passes in Week 1 as the Jaguars’ defense Leonard Fournette did most of the heavy lifting against the Texans.

Vikings QB Sam Bradford (knee) took limited practice reps again Thursday. Bradford should be fine to face the Steelers. In the 10 games since Pat Shurmur took over as offensive coordinator in the middle of last year, Sam Bradford has averaged 278 yards and 1.5 touchdowns per game.

Colts QB Andrew Luck (right shoulder) missed practice again Thursday. Luck needs to practice for a couple of weeks before returning to game action so at this point, his target appears to be October. Jacoby Brissett may draw the start this week after Scott Tolzien stunk it up against the Rams in Week 1.

Broncos QB Paxton Lynch (right shoulder) missed practice again Thursday.

Panthers QB Cam Newton (right shoulder) was limited Thursday after taking full practice reps Wednesday. Head coach Ron Rivera said that Newton will be getting regular in-week rest this season to manage his shoulder.

Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi (knee) practiced fully Wednesday. He apparently has some soreness but should be fine to face the Chargers.

Broncos RB Devontae Booker (wrist) took limited practice reps again Thursday.

Broncos RB Jamaal Charles (not injury related) returned to full practice reps Thursday after missing Wednesday.

Bears RB Benny Cunningham (ankle) missed practice again Thursday. Tarik Cohen should be very involved against the Bucs.

Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, abdomen) took full practice reps again Thursday.

Colts RB Frank Gore (not injury related) was added to the injury report Thursday after missing practice. Gore will play, but he’s not a good start against the Cardinals.

Falcons RB Brian Hill (ankle) took limited practice reps again Thursday.

Bears RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) took limited practice reps again Thursday. Howard should be able to play but it’s notable that he’s already banged up with Tarik Cohen eating into his workload.

Browns RB Duke Johnson (chest) took full practice reps again Thursday. Johnson should be fine to face the Ravens, though the two touches he saw on 76% of the snaps is worrisome.

Bills RB LeSean McCoy (wrist) took full practice reps again Thursday. McCoy should be fine for a tougher test against the Panthers.

Raiders RB Jamize Olawale (quadricep) took limited practice reps Wednesday.

Eagles RB Donnel Pumphrey (hamstring) missed practice Thursday after taking limited reps Wednesday.

Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls (ankle) practiced fully Wednesday. Rawls is expected to play against the 49ers and could see starter’s touches.

Redskins RB Chris Thompson (back) took full practice reps again Thursday. Thompson turned seven touches into 56 yards and a touchdown against Philadelphia. He continues to have RB3/flex appeal in PPR leagues.

Bills RB Mike Tolbert (knee) took full practice reps again Thursday. Tolbert saw 13 touches for 54 yards and a touchdown operating as the backup to LeSean McCoy.

Ravens RB Danny Woodhead (thigh) was removed from the injury report Thursday. Woodhead was placed on IR so he can return in Week 10. Javorius Allen gets the biggest bump, but QB Joe Flacco suggested that Mike Campanaro as a possible replacement for Woodhead.

Jaguars RB T.J. Yeldon (hamstring) took full practice reps again Thursday. It looks like Yeldon will play against the Titans, which could put a dent in Leonard Fournette’s snaps, specifically in the passing game.

Patriots WR Danny Amendola (concussion, knee) missed practice again Thursday. Amendola may have trouble getting cleared to play in Week 2, though he has a few extra days thanks to playing on the first Thursday of the NFL season. If he’s out, Chris Hogan gets a bump, with Phillip Dorsett likely to see some playing time as well.

Giants WR Odell Beckham (ankle) missed practice Thursday. Beckham said that his ankle sprain is a “6-8 week injury” per beat writer Jordan Raanan. He says he feels okay, but he’s no sure thing for Monday Night Football. If he’s out, Sterling Shepard would be the most trustworthy of the Giants’ receivers after Brandon Marshall’s quiet game in Week 1.

Bears WR Josh Bellamy (ankle) was added to the injury report Thursday after taking limited practice reps. The hits keep on coming for the Bears. With the injury to Kevin White, Chicago is counting on Bellamy to play a significant amount of snaps.

Browns WR Kenny Britt (knee) took full practice reps again Thursday. Britt was called out by his head coach after a poor Week 1 effort.

Cardinals WR John Brown (quadricep) missed practice again Thursday. Brown dealt with a quad issue this summer, so maybe it flared up during Week 1. We were hoping Wednesday’s practice was just a rest day, but now that he sat out Thursday as well, this is officially a situation to monitor heading into a great matchup with the Colts. If he’s unable to play, it’s a big bump for Jaron Brown and J.J. Nelson with David Johnson on the shelf.

Raiders WR Amari Cooper (knee) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Cooper was limited last Wednesday as well. This should be nothing to worry about it.

Redskins WR Jamison Crowder (hip) took full practice reps again Thursday. Crowder should be fine to face the Rams. He had a quiet Week 1 (three catches, 14 yards), but he saw seven targets and played 78% of the snaps. The fundamentals are strong.

Redskins WR Josh Doctson (hamstring) took limited practice reps again Thursday. It sounds like Doctson is going to be on a snap count in Week 2. He’s not playable in fantasy at this point.

Chargers WR Dontrelle Inman (groin) practiced fully Wednesday.

Giants WR Tavarres King (ankle) took full practice reps Thursday.

Colts WR Chester Rogers (hamstring) took limited practice reps again Thursday.

Patriots WR Matt Slater (hamstring) missed practice again Thursday.

Lions WR Golden Tate (finger) took limited practice reps Thursday. There isn’t much to worry about here. Tate should be out there against the Giants on Monday night.

Bears WR Markus Wheaton (finger) took limited practice reps again Thursday. Wheaton could be in line for big snaps if he can get healthy.

Chargers WR Mike Williams (back) did not practice Wednesday.

Cowboys WR Terrance Williams (ankle) missed practice again Thursday. Williams left the Sunday night game briefly but returned and played pretty well.

Bills TE Charles Clay (shoulder) took full practice reps Thursday after being limited Wednesday. Clay should be able to play through the shoulder injury. He led the Bills with nine targets last week.

Cardinals TE Jermaine Gresham (ribs) missed practice again Thursday.

49ers TE George Kittle (hamstring, calf) took limited practice reps Wednesday.

Jets TE Jordan Leggett (knee) missed practice again Thursday.

Steelers TE Vance McDonald (back) was added to the injury report Thursday after missing practice. If McDonald is unable to play, it’s a bump for Jesse James, who shockingly caught two touchdowns last week.

Chargers TE Sean McGrath (knee) practiced fully Wednesday.

Cardinals TE Troy Niklas (hip) was added to the injury report Thursday after taking limited practice reps.

Falcons TE Eric Saubert (hamstring) took limited practice reps again Thursday.

Browns TE Randall Telfer (knee) took full practice reps again Thursday.

Jets TE Eric Tomlinson (elbow) missed practice again Thursday.
