DFS Tight End Analysis: Week 17

DFS is a game of exploiting a lot of small edges, therefore all options at each position should be explored every week. Below is an analysis of this week’s tight ends on the main slate, including the upside and downside of the most viable players on the slate with explanations for how you might adjust your approach to the position depending on the game type.

Week 17 is especially unique because some teams have everything to play for while others will be rolling out their backups. Research this week should start with Josh Moore's article on who's motivated. Look to roster players that are on teams needing to win, especially if there’s a chance those players will face backups on the opposite team.

Tight end ownership figures to be extremely flat this week, so this article will explore the position by pricing tier since no player stands out as the clear chalk.

Studs

  • With the Eagles and Chiefs expected to sit their starters, for at least a significant portion of their games, Rob Gronkowski ($8,500 FD/$7,000 DK) is the only viable high-priced tight end of the week. Gronk projects as the top tight end value on both sites in a game where New England is projected to score over 29 points. The Patriots play early and lock up the top seed in the AFC with a bye, so starters should be playing throughout this game.
