Streaming Tight Ends: Week 2 Targets
If you’re new to the Tight End By Waiver Wire (TEBWW) strategy, here is the basic premise: each week you target a tight end that is available on waivers and has an above average matchup in hopes of plugging in TE1 production. Matchup strength is largely based on 4for4’s Schedule Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) metric.
Because aFPA requires at least three to four weeks of input to provide reliable predictive data, early season tight end streamers will be chosen based on usage, efficiency, and opponents raw fantasy points allowed, if there is a glaring deficiency against tight ends.
Week 1 TEBWW picks provided mixed results, but our top streamer, Jordan Reed, posted 19.3 PPR fantasy points, finishing 6th among tight ends on the week. As the season progresses and more information is available, our picks will become stronger.
In order to ensure that streaming options are readily available in most leagues, candidates must be available in at least 40% of Yahoo fantasy leagues.
On to the picks for Week 2:
Jordan Reed (WAS) vs St. Louis
Reed makes the streaming list for the second time in two weeks, and probably for the last time this season, as he is very likely to become an every week starter in fantasy leagues. He is already owned in 57% of Yahoo leagues and that percentage should climb rapidly, so grab him while you can.
In the first week of the season, Reed was on the field for 85% of the Redskins snaps, according to the Player Snap App, and saw 11 targets, a league high among tight ends. With DeSean Jackson out for an undisclosed amount of time, Reed’s role in this offense will only increase and their lack of receiving weapons may very well make the Washington tight end a plug and play option regardless of the matchup.
