Week 12 at San Francisco 49ers
With another week off to rest his injured toe, Davante Adams is probably as healthy as he's going to be this season. He's gotten 21 targets in his two games back, catching 14 passes, seven in each game. Even with a tough matchup -- Adams probably will get shadow coverage from Richard Sherman -- he should still win more often than he loses. Adams is a solid WR1 play.
Week 10 vs. Carolina Panthers
Davante Adams returned for the first time since Week 4 and got 11 targets, catching seven passes for 47 yards in what was a lackluster offensive performance by the Packers. He won't be fully healthy with his turf toe the rest of the year, but Adams should continue to be heavily targeted by Aaron Rodgers. At the very least, even with a difficult matchup, he's no worse than a WR2 each week, including this one.
Week 4 vs. Philadelphia Eagles
The four receptions for 56 yards Davante Adams posted last week against the Broncos are not what you had in mind when you drafted him. And the entire Green Bay passing game is struggling. Equally as troubling was the fact Adams got just four targets in that game. Look for that to change this week. The Eagles' secondary is vulnerable and Adams should have a breakout effort on Thursday night to shake out of his slow start. Adams is a solid WR1 play this week.
Week 3 vs. Denver Broncos
Davante Adams had seven catches for 106 yards on nine targets last week. He hasn't scored yet this season and Denver has only allowed one touchdown pass this season, but Adams is more than due. He's a tough matchup for anyone because of his size and the fact he has Aaron Rodgers throwing him the ball. He remains a solid No. 1 option this week, especially with some of the unsettled quarterback situations around the league.
Week 2 vs. Minnesota Vikings
Last week's win over the Bears was so offensively challenged that even Davante Adams was a bad fantasy play. Though he got eight targets, he caught just four passes for 36 yards and did not score. Adams should bounce back this week, even if he does draw Xavier Rhodes as expected in shadow coverage. In two games against the Vikings last season, he posted lines of 5-69-1 and 7-52-1. Don't expect a big yardage day, but Adams will get peppered with targets. He should still be a WR1 option.
Week 1 at Chicago
With Davante Adams, it's all about the volume and red zone targets. And in two games against the Bears last season, Adams got 21 targets, catching 13 for 207 yards and a touchdown. Adams is a WR1 regardless of formats. He's always a threat to score. He'll put up yards -- he had just two games under 64 yards last season. And he'll have a high volume of passes thrown his way -- just two games under eight targets last season. He's a must-start against the Bears.
Fantasy Upside
Davante Adams had his best NFL season in 2018, catching 111 passes for 1,386 yards and 13 scores on 169 targets. And that was in 15 games with Aaron Rodgers having an "off" year. He's the clear-cut No. 1 receiver in an offense with a great quarterback. There's no reason to think he won't match or come close to those numbers again in 2019.
Fantasy Downside
There's nothing to not like here. Aaron Rodgers loves throwing it to Adams.
2019 Bottom Line
Adams will surely be one of the top two or three receivers off the board in any fantasy draft. He's posted double digits in touchdowns in each of the past three seasons. He had at least 80 receiving yards or a touchdown in all 15 games in which he played in 2018. That's nice, steady production from the receiver position. Still, in his mid-20s, there's no reason to think Adams won't continue along this career path.
Week 17 vs. Detroit Lions
Davante Adams didn't put up big yardage numbers with 71, but he did so on 11 receptions with a touchdown last week. He's dealing with a knee issue but is expected to play to try and finish off what has been a strong 2018 season for him. He had nine receptions for 140 yards and a score when these two teams met earlier this season, so there's no reason to expect WR1 work from him again this week.
Week 16 at N.Y. Jets
Davante Adams continued his strong season with eight receptions for 119 yards last week, giving him at least 81 yards or a touchdown in every game this season. He's like clockwork, even in the toughest of matchups as long as Aaron Rodgers continues to play. The Jets' pass defense up 10 catches for 172 yards and a pair of scores to DeAndre Hopkins. There's no reason to think Adams won't put up WR1 numbers this week.
Week 15 at Chicago Bears
Despite Aaron Rodgers' decreased production, Davante Adams continues to put up points. He posted a line of 7-81-1 last week and continues to excel despite the matchup. Even in a tough matchup against the Bears, Adams remains a WR1. He's scored in each of his past three games against the Bears and has a very high floor considering he's only failed to get into the end zone in three games this season.
