GB WR Davante Adams - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Detroit Lions

Davante Adams had two receptions for 12 yards two weeks ago as the entire Green Bay offense struggled. They've had a bye week to work on the timing, so maybe it will be better moving forward. It can't be much worse than it was against the Saints. Adams should be better this week than he was in his last outing, but don't get carried away with the expectations. Use him as a low-end WR3.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. New Orleans Saints

Adams scored for the third-consecutive game last week, catching 5 passes for 54 yards. The entire Green Bay passing game takes a downgrade with the loss of Aaron Rodgers, but the Packers have a favorable matchup with New Orleans. The Saints rank 24th in points allowed to opposing receivers. Adams' days of having monster games are probably behind him this season, but he should produce enough to perform as a high-end No. 3 WR.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Minnesota Vikings

Davante Adams returned from a concussion two weeks ago in Chicago to post a solid line of 7-66-2, his most productive fantasy day of the season. He had two tough outings last season against Minnesota, catching just 7-of-14 targets for 70 yards and 1 touchdown against his NFC North rivals. The Vikings have been very stingy the past two weeks, allowing just 14 combined receptions to opposing wideouts in that span. But when Aaron Rodgers is throwing the ball, anything is possible. Adams should be used as a low-end WR2.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Dallas Cowboys

Adams caught just 2 passes for 13 yards and a score before leaving last week against Chicago after a nasty hit that sent him to the hospital. He was still in the concussion protocol as of Thursday, so he's not been cleared to play just yet. Concussions can be dicey and there is the danger of suffering another if you return too quickly. If Adams plays, he could be solid against a soft Dallas pass defense. But it's an iffy proposition. If you have a more stable option, the safe play would be to go there.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Chicago Bears

Even with Randall Cobb out last week, Davante Adams still got 6 six targets. He did turn them into 3 receptions for 60 yards and has been targeted 5 times 20 or more yards downfield for the Packers this season. That might not sound like a lot, but it's half of Green Bay's total for the season. Adams saw 22 targets in two games against the Bears last season, but 16 came in one game. He's more of a No. 2 wide receiver play this week with some potential upside in all formats.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

With Jordy Nelson sidelined, Davante Adams took advantage, catching 8 passes for 99 yards and a score last week. A lot is going to depend on whether or not Nelson is ready to go this week. He said he is, but he could be somewhat limited. That makes Adams a solid start if Nelson is hobbled or unable to go. Even if Nelson does play, Adams is a solid WR2 option in all formats. The Bengals have only allowed 13 receptions to opposing wideouts in the first two weeks, but that wasn't against even average passing games.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Atlanta Falcons

Davante Adams was quiet in Week 1, catching only 3 passes for 47 yards. But he was targeted seven times. Adams was behind both Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb on the target pecking order, though, which is a bit troubling. Don't read too much into it...just yet. Adams should find more room this week against Atlanta than he did Seattle last week. He should perform as a solid No. 3 wide receiver with plenty of scoring upside potential in a good matchup.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Seattle Seahawks

After his breakout season in 2016, Davante Adams will get more attention this season. But that didn't really matter last season in a matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Adams went off for 4 receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown. The volume wasn't great, but the yardage certain was. Adams was very touchdown reliant at times last season when he scored 12 times, but he's got the size and quarterback to be that kind of threat each week. Use him as a low-end No. 2 receiver this week.

GB WR Davante Adams - 2017 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Davante Adams finally emerged in his third season as a consistent performer, posting 75 catches for 997 yards and 12 touchdowns -- all were career-bests. Even more impressive is the fact he reached those totals despite seeing only an additional 28 targets than the year before. Adams' 12 touchdowns really helped his fantasy numbers as did playing with Aaron Rodgers. Adams is a threat to score from anywhere on the field.

Fantasy Downside

Touchdowns can be fleeting. Adams had just one in 2015, and four total in his first two seasons. It's also hard to overlook how he fell short of the 1,000-yard mark last season, even though he's the No. 2 target on his own team.

2017 Bottom Line

Adams had only one 100-yard game in his first two seasons combined before recording four last season. He also had just 11 catches of 20-plus yards his first two seasons before recording 17 in 2016. You get the idea. The question is, was it a career year or a breakout year? Playing in an offense with Rodgers as the trigger man makes it more likely it was the latter. Adams' current ADP has him going in the fifth or sixth round, which means most players are drafting him as a No. 2 receiver. That lofty draft status will be warranted if his touchdown production equals that of 2016. If it falls short, however, he could be a disappointment.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 20, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

NFC Championship at Atlanta
Adams had five receptions for 82 yards on 10 targets last week, but sprained his ankle late in the game. While the injury has kept him sidelined in practice this week, he is expected to play on Sunday. Adams saw 14 targets against a soft Atlanta secondary in their first meeting earlier this season, but turned that into just 74 yards. Part of the reason for that, however, was because both Ty Montgomery and Randall Cobb missed the game, and Adams was serving as the safety valve. That won't be the case this week. Adams should be very, very solid.
