Week 2 vs Seattle
Adams had a team-high eight targets last week. That's the good news. The bad? He caught just half of those for 59 yards. The Packers are going to continue to force feed Adams the football since Jordy Nelson isn't returning anytime soon. Seattle's secondary isn't what it has been the past couple of seasons, so Adams could find some room. He shouldn't be used as anything more than a No. 3 receiver this week, however, as he faces what should be a tough matchup.
Week 1 at Chicago
With Jordy Nelson out, Davante Adams should be the biggest fantasy beneficiary. He moves into the starting lineup and should approach double digits in targets each week. Aaron Rodgers had 10 TD passes in two games against the Bears last season. That bodes well for Adams, who had just three catches in two games against Chicago last year. He's something of an unknown commodity, but Adams should be a solid No. 2 fantasy receiver this week.
Fantasy Upside
When your quarterback is Aaron Rodgers, you're always going to be a fantasy factor. Adams had some big games as a rookie last season. But he also had some games where he wasn't a factor at all. With a full season with Rodgers under his belt and the season-ending injury to Jordy Nelson, Adams should truly emerge.
Fantasy Downside
Randall Cobb is the No. 1 and Eddie Lacy has to get his touches as well.
Bottom Line
With Jordy Nelson done for the season, Adams should emerge as a top-25 receiver. The Packers threw 31 TDs out of the three-receiver package last season. Adams ADP was in the 9th to 10th round prior to the Nelson injury, so you're looking at a player with star potential. That will certainly go up now.
Davante Adams Playoffs vs. Seahawks
With Dallas intent on shutting down Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams got 11 targets last week, hauling in seven passes for 117 yards and a touchdown in what was his best game in weeks. Seattle will likely play things more straight up, trusting their corners to cover the Packers one-on-one. Adams should gets some looks after his breakout game last week, but there are only so many targets to go around.
Davante Adams Playoffs vs. Cowboys
Davante Adams was shut out in the final game of the season and did not finish the season well, catching just four passes in the Packers' final four games. He's been way too inconsistent to play in any fantasy format this season and there's no reason to think that's about to change.
Davante Adams Week 17 vs. Lions
Davante Adams has just four receptions - including two for 17 yards last week - in the three games since he had a 6-121-0 line a month ago against New England. Too hit and miss to be a recommended play.
Davante Adams Week 16 vs. Bucs
Davante Adams had just one catch again last week for six yards. That's now two or fewer receptions in seven of the past 10 games for the rookie. No thanks.
Davante Adams Week 15 vs. Bills
Six receptions for more than 100 yards one week, one catch for six yards last week. Davante Adams is entering old-time James Jones territory. There's just too much hit-and-miss to start Adams in a playoff game, especially against a tough Buffalo pass defense.
Davante Adams Week 14 vs. Falcons
With New England focused on slowing Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams had a career-high 121 yards on six receptions. Pick your poison. Adams was dealing with a heel injury last week, but that obviously didn't slow him down. But given his up-and-down performances this season, starting him as anything more than a flex is a little risky.
Davante Adams Week 13 vs. New England
Remember the days when being the No. 3 receiver in Green Bay meant an automatic play? They are gone. After catching just one pass for 10 yards last week, Davante Adams now has four receptions in the past three games. He's also dealing with a heel injury. Adams is expected to play, but he's not been consistent enough to risk playing this week.
