No update was given on Williams the story said, but reports say he will likely miss time with a serious knee injury, perhaps the rest of the season. Williams was starting to emerge at the position, but Rodgers doesn't bring a lot of fantasy excitement as a potential replacement. The 30-year-old has 106 games and 45 starts of NFL experience in his career.
The in-house options aren't overly great for Cards, at least on paper. The author speculated about some options outside the organization who could be available. Names included O.J. Howard, Mo Alie-Cox, Hayden Hurst and Jimmy Graham. It remains to be seen what they do, but Williams was starting to emerge as a legit threat in the passing game at the TE position.
Williams, who has emerged as an important target for QB Kyler Murray, took a hard shot to his right knee and was quickly ruled out this week. It was ugly to watch as Williams took the hit after planting his right leg in the turf on a 14-yard catch. Daniels and Harris are next up on the depth chart.
