Cowboys QB Dak Prescott 'determined to play' Week 7

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones is hopeful Dak Prescott will be able to return to the starting lineup Sunday against the Detroit Lions after missing five games with a fractured right thumb.

"Well, let's just say this: He's determined to [play]," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. "I think he's, from my perspective, from what I can know and see, I think he's going to get there. We feel like that physically, he's at a position that the risk/reward justifies him being out there in terms of any reoccurrence of the injury."

According to the story, Jones said Prescott had a "very impressive" throwing session before Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. After the game, Prescott said it was his plan to play against the Lions. On Monday, coach Mike McCarthy said Prescott would be cleared medically by Tuesday and would return to practice Wednesday.

It appears Dak Prescott participated in his first Cowboys practice since fracturing his right thumb in Week 1. He is listed as limited, as are Micah Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence. Both defensive players say they will play. Cooper Rush still preparing to start vs. the Eagles.

Fantasy Impact:

It looks like the team is going to rest Prescott for at least one more week, and it may be prudent, considering the brutal matchup they have on Sunday night. With Dalton Schultz nursing a knee injury, CeeDee Lamb and Ezekiel Elliot may be Dallas's only worthwhile fantasy pieces this week.

Dak Prescott said he felt “great,” after his first throwing session since undergoing right thumb surgery.

The tweet went on to say Prescott said he plans to throw more on Thursday. “Solid. Ask the receivers,” he smiled when asked how it went. “I always got some pop on my (passes).” Reports said the Cowboys are preparing to start Rush on Sunday night against the Eagles but keep an eye on how Prescott progresses over the next few days. Counting on Prescott for a Sunday night will be risky without a backup plan.

Mike McCarthy said Dak Prescott had a doctors evaluation on Monday and he’s still healing and Cowboys plan for Cooper Rush to start.

Fantasy Impact:

Prescott remains in the medical and rehab phase. Patrik Walker reported Prescott will start in rehab on Wednesday then on to "QB School," and is expected to start light throwing before the end of practice to receivers, according to McCarthy. Looks like Rush will start a key, Week 6 game on Sunday night against the Eagles.
