Harry can't play until Week 9, and with Gordon not on the field it could be Meyers and Dorsett have bigger roles behind Edelman leading up to Week 7 against the Jets. Recently re-signed Watson could be an option this week with LaCosse likely mising a few games.
The Patriots are re-signing tight end Ben Watson just a week after they released him, according to ESPN.
Last week, after the Patriots released Watson instead of activating him after his four-week suspension to start the season, coach Bill Belichick said the team had to release him because it didn’t have a roster spot for him. That has changed as reports say Matt Lacosse will be out a few weeks with a knee injury. Watson is worth a pickup for those hurting at the position but may not jump right into the action for Week 7.
That didn't last long. Watson didn't make the trip this week when the Pats traveled to Washington. Watson was potentially in a nice spot after his suspension to jump into the Pats offense but he's now free to sign with another team.
Patriots TE Ben Watson did not travel with the team to Washington and is out for Sunday's game against the Redskins.
Yates notes the Patriots have until Monday at 4:00 P.M. EST to activate Watson to the active roster after he served his four-game suspension. With Watson out, Matt LaCosse and Ryan Izzo will lead the way at the position. Neither has been a fantasy factor at all. They have combined for four catches for 77 yards. Simply too many other, better, mouths to feed in New England.
