Browns wide receiver Antonio Callaway returns this week from a four-game suspension, and it’s coming at a good time.

Fellow receiver Jarvis Landry is in the concussion protocol and it’s unclear whether he’ll practice this week or play on Monday night against the 49ers. That means Callaway may be asked to play a significant role in the offense in his first game back. Browns coach Freddie Kitchens thinks Callaway will be ready.

Fantasy Impact:

Last year Callaway was the Browns’ No. 2 wide receiver, behind Landry. This year he’ll be bumped down the depth chart with Odell Beckham in town, but if Landry is out, Callaway may well be the No. 2 receiver again in his first game back, the story all said.

Cleveland Browns WR Antonio Callaway has been suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Impact:

As Rapoport notes, this likely explains why Callaway has been running with the reserves during training camp up to this point. After a terrific rookie season, Callaway has taken a major step back . First, it was being behind Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry and now he will miss the first quarter of the season. Tough to buy too much stock into Callaway considering all the other talent Baker Mayfield has to throw to. He’s worth a flyer, but not much lore than that at this stage.

Antonio Callaway was, perhaps, at his best when the Browns had various other elements clicking on offense. That should be the case on a weekly basis in 2019, providing an opportunity for Callaway to thrive and exploit some potential mismatches while opposing defenses try to stop Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry and other weapons in the Cleveland offense. “We have been very pleasantly and very happy with how he came back from the offseason ready to go,” Mayfield said. “Just how quick he is and you can tell he has been working on his craft. That is very exciting to see that. You bring in a guy like Odell and you re-sign some guys, and he is going to try and compete with them. That is the most important part. Competition brings out the best in them and Callaway is doing that.”

Fantasy Impact:

The story said this may be the most talent the Browns have had at WR - ever. Callaway is ranked just 90th on our list and is going to have to fight for targets with not only Beckham and Landy, and possibly even HIggins, but also TE David Njoku.
