Comments Houston coach Gary Kubiak made after the Arizona game might have led people to conclude the Texans were contemplating backing away from trying to establish the run, but he set the record straight Thursday.
The team's difficulties on the ground “(don't) change what you're doing, what you're teaching,” he said. “We're going to stay committed to what we're doing. My comment was that if we get there on game day and we're not running the football, we're going to do what we've got to do. But we're never going to get away from trying to run the football.”
Asked if running back Ryan Moats might be given more of chance with Steve Slaton and Chris Brown struggling, Kubiak referenced the Arizona game, saying: “We had 17 carries. It's pretty hard to split 17 carries up between three guys. I'd like to see him touch the ball, but we've got to see how the game plays out.”
