Hakeem Nicks' wrist is fine. His knee, however, has now become a serious source of concern for the injury-riddled Giants.

The wideout spent Monday afternoon being examined by doctors and presumably undergoing an MRI after injuring his knee during Sunday's 28-14 loss to the Redskins. Nicks only mentioned a wrist injury after the game, but he received X-rays on his knee and wrist on Sunday. Both tests came back negative, but Tom Coughlin said Monday that Nicks' knee was swelling.

"We know that he has some type of an injury there," Coughlin said. "We don't know what it is or to what extent."

Coughlin said he was unsure if the injury would keep Nicks out of Monday's home opener against the Rams. A source familiar with the injury said Nicks was "OK" and that the initial tests showed no serious damage. The source added that the Giants are hoping it is nothing more than a bone bruise, but they are proceeding cautiously because of the swelling.

The swelling will likely cause Nicks to miss some practice time, and his status for Monday is, at best, uncertain. The extra day before the game, though, will certainly help.
