Indianapolis Star: To fill the gap in the Colt's backfield, the
team signed veteran RB Najeh Davenport on Tuesday. To make room
for Davenport on the 53-player roster, the Colts waived Jamie
Petrowski, a tight end who played at Indiana State. Davenport was
not available for comment Wednesday. "There's a chance Najeh could
be playing right away, so we'll get him up to speed as quick as we
can,'' Dungy said. In addition to spelling Rhodes, Davenport also
might return kicks. The 6-1, 247-pounder appeared in four games
with Pittsburgh this season. He carried the ball only twice but
averaged 21.7 yards on 10 kickoff returns.
