Devin Aromashodu's career game doesn't guarantee prominent role on Chicago Bears' offense. Still, based on Cutler's affinity for Aromashodu, and the easily identifiable chemistry they have, maybe the Bears are better off with Aromashodu in a starting role -- not for 2010, but the next three weeks. It's impossible to say because he simply hasn't played enough, but the Bears have a pretty good idea where Hester's ceiling is. They can't say the same about Aromashodu, a seventh-round pick by the Dolphins in 2006.
General manager Jerry Angelo told WBBM-AM 780 he wanted to see player development, and that's something Smith, no doubt, is mixing into the game plan for the Ravens.
"You give guys an opportunity to play and then you evaluate them from there," Smith said. "Johnny Knox has had a lot more opportunities this year. Seems like every time we've gone to him, we've seen some good things. And Aromashodu has taken advantage of some of his opportunities. (Sunday), he took full advantage of the situations."
For his part, Aromashodu was low-key. He knows there are no guarantees down the stretch, and he has thought chances would materialize before with the Dolphins, Colts and Redskins. He's heartened by the knowledge the Bears have no need to rush Hester back.
