Patriots WR Romeo Doubs (shoulder) placed on IR

Colts HC Shane Steichen says WR Alec Pierce, who is eligible to come off IR this week, will not practice.

Pierce is still rehabbing after aggravating his surgically repaired left heel last month, the post went on to say. Boyd added it's not really a surprise and Pierce was in a walking boot yesterday in the press box. It seems like we are still a few weeks away from a Pierce return.

Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield missed his third straight game on Sunday, but the team is hoping that his absence from the lineup will be ending soon.

Mayfield’s dislocated right thumb has also kept him off of the practice field since he was injured in Week 3, but he tested his ability to throw the ball last week and head coach Todd Bowles said at a Monday press conference that the current plan is for Mayfield to be involved in practice this week.

After that, the Bucs plan to evaluate Mayfield this week to determine his status for Week 7. We'll likely know more later in the week, but if there is any chance Mayfield can play, he'll be on the field with the Bucs sitting at 1-5.

On Monday, Sean Payton was asked by reporters whether he has considered making a quarterback change.

“To answer your question, no,” Payton said. “[Bo Nix is] going to become the byproduct of all the finer things that get improved. The improved play from our offensive line, the more efficient we are relative to balance, running the football. That’s our jobs as coaches here. We talked after the game about we’re excited to get that win, and yet at the same time find that improvement we need in all areas. So, it starts with all of us.”

Nix threw for just over 100 yards last week and had a YPA of just under 4. Aside from Weeks 2 and 3, Nix hasn't offered fantasy owners too much in terms of production. Needless to say, the team seems to be very careful in their play calls for Nix, not attempting much in the way in anything down the field. Last week we had Nix ranked 25th, which put him just out of QB2 range in a 12 team league.
