Najee Harris misses practice Wednesday

The 49ers aren’t planning to make a change at kicker during their bye week.

Eddy Piñeiro missed an extra point against the Falcons in Sunday’s loss and he’s now missed four of them on the season. He’s also missed three field goals, which led to a question for head coach Kyle Shanahan after the game about whether the team will be looking at other options before returning to action in Week 9.

As the story pointed out, Pineiro has $4 million in guaranteed money for the 2027 season and that likely plays a role in any decision.

Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson was seen in an animated conversation with quarterback Geno Smith and assistant coaches on the bench during Sunday’s 28-25 loss to the Dolphins, but it’s not an issue for head coach Aaron Glenn.

“I think sometimes that’s overblown as far as what people think is happening,” Glenn said, via a transcript from the team. “Sometimes those conversations can be totally something else. I know for a fact that Geno, Garrett, it was more or less, ‘Let’s get going. Let’s get the offense going,’ more than guys bickering at each other. I think sometimes that gets overblown. I know what type of player Garrett is, and I know what type of player Geno is. I know where their hearts at, too. I know for a fact that was more or less let’s get the offense going and try to score points.”

Wilson said after the game that the conversation was “heated,” but not because of anger toward one another, the story said. Wilson said he was “disappointed with how we was playing up to that point and wanted to be more aggressive” when the team had the ball and Glenn said on Monday that he thought everyone involved was coming from the right place, the story went on to say. Glenn said via the story the team's top priority is to get Wilson the ball. But, he had just three targets in last week's loss, catching two of those for 26 yards. Hopefully for Wilson owners this type of situation will cause the team to over-correct and make sure Wilson gets more targets. The story added in the team's last three losses Wilson has just nine catches total.

“It sucks”

Saquon Barkley fought through his hamstring injury the last few weeks to play tonight and then his back froze up on him. Saquon spoke to the team after the loss and says the Eagles have to keep fighting, especially the young players. He says he is not pleasant to be around when he is injured. He says he will keep fighting.

Pierce was injured on a kick return in the fourth quarter but there were no specifics on what he could be dealing with. With Barkley now adding a back injury to his hamstring, the Eagles could be down to their sixth string running back heading into Week 8, which is a Sunday night game against the Commanders. It could be a tough spot for fantasy owners waiting for news on who to start if they are counting on an Eagles RB. It's possible both Barkley and Pierce could be out leaving the Eagles with just Mitchell. The Birds will probably have to make some moves at the position sooner than later which could give us a better indication, along with practice reports this week.
