Chip Kelly met with his quarterbacks on Tuesday to them he has chosen his starting quarterback for the regular season.
It will be Michael Vick, not Nick Foles taking the snaps come Week 1. The announcement came as somewhat of a surprise, as Kelly was only expected to name a starter for Saturday's game against Jaguars.
Through two preseason games, Vick has been stellar. He is 13-15 passing for 199 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also has two rushes for 20 yards.
The news isn't surprising but the timing is. Many felt the Eagles wanted to wait as long as possible because Vick seems to thrive when there is competition. Now that he's been named the starter, it will be interesting to see how comfortable he gets. For those who already drafted Vick, he was a great late-round, value selection, but his ADP will likely climb a bit after this announcement. He seems to be a good fit for Chip Kelly's system because he gets rid of the ball quickly, and in the past, holding on to the ball is what led to turnovers. If he can keep himself healthy, he is a QB2 on fantasy teams with the potential to be much more.
