Eagles place RB Jay Ajayi (ACL) on IR

Jay Ajayi wishes the Eagles had run the ball with more frequency during Sunday's 23-21 loss to the Vikings.

Unfortunately, the veteran running back won't have a chance to correct that situation anytime soon.

The team on Monday placed Ajayi on injured reserve, with NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reporting the 25-year-old tore his ACL, a setback that will end his season.

Related players: Corey Clement, Wendell Smallwood, Darren Sproles, Josh Adams

Fantasy Impact:

Ajayi was already dealing with a back injury, and no one seems sure when exactly he tore the ACL in the game with the Vikings. The Eagles are likely going to have a make a move for another back. Clement was active in Week 5, but only in an emergency situation. Smallwood got a lot of snaps but likely won't be the answer for the rest of the season. However, perhaps for the immediate future, Clement and Smallwood could split carries. Of course if Clement can't go, Smallwood and Adams could see work.
