Commanders RB Austin Ekeler likely suffers torn Achilles Thursday night

Commanders believe veteran RB Austin Ekeler did in fact tear his Achilles during Thursday night’s loss at Green Bay. Ekeler still needs to undergo imaging that is scheduled Friday for confirmation.

Fantasy Impact:

Rodriguez has been a healthy scratch twice to begin the season and wasn't pegged for the third-down role to begin with, so we should imagine most of the work will go to Croskey-Merritt and McNichols, unless the Commanders bring in another body (which is very possible). For now, JCM should be boosted into legit RB2 consideration based on matchup, while McNichols is somwhere in the RB4/5 range.

Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy returns to Thursday practice on limited basis

A good sign: Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy, who injured his shoulder just six days ago, returned to practice today on a limited basis.

Fantasy Impact:

The rumor has been that the team will try to have Worthy play through the injury with a brace, but it's hard to expect him back out on the field in Week 2. Brown is the most obvious beneficiary and should be considered a fringe WR2/3. Smith-Schuster will operate underneath with a limited ceiling ,while Thornton is a desperation boom/bust play.

Fantasy Impact:

It still hasn't been verified whether the second-round rookie will actually be taking the field here in Week 2, so the backfield's fantasy value is still very much in the air. After Sampson's eight-catch performance during the opening weekend, he should shoot up into high-end RB3 territory without Judkins, but becomes slightly less valuable if he's splitting with both his fellow rookie and Jerome Ford.

Raiders TE Brock Bowers misses Thursday practice

Raiders TE Brock Bowers (knee) and LB Elandon Roberts (elbow) are not practicing. They are observing the stretch period without a helmet.

Injury report will come out later this afternoon.

Fantasy Impact:

While Mayer certainly wouldn't be a slam-dunk play if Bowers misses Week 2, he does make for an interesting streamer in leagues where there aren't a ton of options. The tight end ran only 16 routes, but did account for four of Geno Smith's 33 pass attempts with Bowers playing most of Week 1. Bowers should be jammed anywhere we have him if he suits up.
