Broncos Beat: C.J. Anderson is the team's 'best running back'

The Denver Post's Mike Klis on the Broncos' RB situation...

Montee Ball is going to play. I'm not sure if he starts. But he's going to play. Personally, I'd start C.J. Anderson. I think he's the Broncos' best running back. It's easy to make that claim this week but even when he was getting one or two carries a game it seemed like he was slashing for 5 yards or so.

I think Anderson has now shown enough that it's time to see what he can do. Some may wonder if he had his breakout game because it was against the Raiders. That's fair. But let's see.

Rookie Juwan Thompson would remain the No. 3 running back.

Fantasy Impact:

This is the opinion of a longtime Broncos beat writer, not of the team. We won't know what the team intends to do at the position until we see Anderson, Ball and Thompson in action, but our guess is that Anderson leads the way in Week 11 while the team eases Ball back into action. Anderson has run far better than Ball thus far -- 5.7 YPC for Anderson, 3.1 YPC for Ball -- but it's not an apples-to-apples comparison. The offensive line is blocking much better and Anderson did much of his damage against an inferior Oakland rush defense. Still, Anderson is worth a pickup as a Week 11 spot start with possible long-term upside.
