Beanie Wells

In their first seven games, the Cardinals averaged just 64.9 rushing yards per game. In their past seven games, they've averaged 125.3.

A big reason for that has been the progress of rookie Beanie Wells, who had his first 100-yard game of the season during Arizona's 31-24 win at Detroit on Sunday.

"Beanie is doing exactly what we want our young players to do, he's earning his right to get more playing time and more carries," Whisenhunt said. " . . . We've got a good group of young backs that are working well together and it's exciting to add that dimension to our offense on a little bit more of a consistent basis."

Wells took a hard hit to his helmet late in the game and appeared to be a bit woozy. Whisenhunt said the hit forced Wells' helmet down on the bridge of the running back's eyebrow, which pinched a nerve and created some brief blurry vision.

"He came out for one play and he was fine after that so it wasn't anything," Whisenhunt said.
