Diggs signed with Washington after posting what was quietly one of the stronger underlying receiver profiles in the league last season: 97th-percentile ESPN OPEN score, 100th-percentile CATCH score, 99th-percentile OVERALL, and 95th-percentile PFF route grade and YPRR. There was no statistical signal of an age cliff. He caught 85 of 100 targets for 1,013 yards in 16 games for New England, and his separation metrics were comparable to what he posted in his prime. At age 33, Washington isn't likely to use him as an every-down player, but he should be on the field in all passing situations. Washington has 140 vacated WR targets (52.4% of WR volume) from last season's departures, and the Commanders' offense with a healthy Jayden Daniels is legitimately one of the more target-friendly environments in the league. Terry McLaurin is the WR1 on the outside; Diggs fills the slot WR2 role that Deebo Samuel vacated. He's going as the WR42, which is reasonable considering his WR20 finish last season, underlying metrics, and the change-of-scenery baked in.
