After the game, 49ers TE Vernon Davis said he experienced back spasms after getting hit awkwardly and bending forward, and that he felt confident that all would be well enough for him to be on the field against the Chiefs next weekend.
“I’ll be good,” Davis said, via the San Francisco Chronice. “I’ll be fine.”
Davis was also battling an ankle injury leading up to this game. With Vance McDonald also out, Derek Carrier took over at TE when Davis couldn't return. Davis says he will be fine for Week 5 but it's always tough to trust a player's opinion when it comes to injuries.
