As much as anyone, Mikel Leshoure’s future with the Lions is tied to the current regime and whether it returns for a sixth season in Detroit.
If Jim Schwartz, Scott Linehan and Co. are back, chances are Leshoure won’t be. He has wasted away on the bench this year and doesn’t fit Linehan’s vision for a running back in his offense.
If wholesale changes are made, Leshoure could find himself back in the Lions’ good graces again.
“I just want to be somewhere they’re going to feed me the rock and I can go eat, man,” Leshoure said. “That’s it. They could be the worst team in the NFL.... Just give me the rock. I feel like I just need the ball. Even here, we don’t really run the ball here.”
Leshoure has a career 3.7 YPC, so it's doubtful that teams will be lining up to offer Leshoure a feature back role. He should be able to find a job as a primary backup, however.
