6 Overvalued Defenders for IDP Fantasy Football Leagues in 2025

It's not that these are bad players or players who won't have any IDP value this season, but at the moment, they're being drafted earlier than I'd advise. This is a list of 'let them be someone else's problem' players, if you will.

A lot has happened around the league since I pushed out my positional tier articles a few weeks back, and this is a great place to capture some of those crucial changes as we enter the heart of fantasy draft season.

Those tier articles have write-ups that are still of value, but if you're drafting in the coming weeks, the IDP rankings are where you'll want to go. Those will be updated daily moving forward, and I'm available for 4for4 subscribers in our Discord at any time.

For this piece, I'm using my positional rankings compared to the Expert Consensus Rankings on FantasyPros.com. If there's a massive gap between my projection of a player and the "ECR," that's a pretty clear indicator that I value that player differently than the general IDP community, and that's how we win.

I'm also going to stay near the top of each position's ADP here so that these recommendations are useful for even the shallowest leagues.

Overvalued Defenders for IDP

Nik Bonitto - DE, Denver Broncos

After 13 sacks and a 2024 season that found him in the Defensive Player of the Year race, it's easy to understand why IDP drafters are prioritizing Nik Bonitto. Still, Bonitto finished as the DL14 last season, 22 on a per-game basis, and he's currently being drafted in that range, as the DL18.

That's a problem, though, because Bonitto will be hard-pressed to replicate his 2024 season. Bonitto ranked 43rd in PFF's pass-rush win rate last season, and his 54 total pressures ranked 23rd in the league, pretty low marks for someone who finished with the third-most sacks in the league. His expected sack rate last season, per PFF's Jon Macri, was 7.0. If you're drafting Bonitto and his 6.5% tackle rate in the top 20 at his position, and he fails to top 10+ sacks, you're going to be extremely disappointed.
