PropSwap Buys of the Week: Hidden NBA Value
With roughly 15 games left in the NBA regular season, it's time to start thinking about postseason awards.
This is the time people panic about futures tickets they think will lose. NBA bettors scramble, trying to recover some value from what they believe is a lost ticket. This is the perfect time to take advantage of deals on PropSwap.
PropSwap is an open marketplace where you can post tickets and make them available via a straight sale or a bidding process. In many ways, PropSwap is an eBay for sports tickets. It is the perfect resource for bettors who are looking to escape from an unfavorable bet or sacrifice a big payday to lock in a more modest gain. If you buy a ticket on PropSwap, it is sent to you via certified mail. If your ticket wins, it must be redeemed at a licensed sportsbook. The typical expiration date is six months or 180 days.
Each week I will examine what's available on PropSwap and highlight tickets to buy. Never used PropSwap before? Nikola Jokic to Win 2022 NBA MVP
- PropSwap Odds: 1.40/1
- Current Odds: +160 (FanDuel)
- Ticket Cost: $175
- Win: $420
Most assume Philadelphia's Joel Embiid is a lock for NBA MVP, but I wouldn't be so sure.
Embiid has certainly been fantastic but Nikola Jokic has statistically been his equal, if not better. Embiid has posted 29.7 points, 11.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game, and a Player Efficiency Rating (PER) rating of 31.61. That is the third-highest PER in the NBA, trailing only Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jokic. The reigning MVP is averaging 25.9 points, 13.8 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game, and a 32.52 PER rating. Ignoring recency bias from voters, there is a strong argument to be made Jokic has produced a better overall season than Embiid.
James Harden has joined Philadelphia and his production has not overshadowed Embiid during the most critical time of the year for NBA MVP voters. It is certainly possible Jokic could steal this award, and become a back-to-back MVP with a massive last 15 games. He is already off to a flying start in March, averaging 33.3 points, 14.3 rebounds, and 9.3 assists per game, while shooting a disturbing 67.9% from the field. I'll gladly take the odds on Jokic with that incredible level of production as we come down the stretch of the 2021-2022 NBA season.
Boston Celtics to Win the NBA Championship
- PropSwap Odds: 18.99/1
- Current Odds: +1800 (FanDuel)
- Ticket Cost: $250
- Win: $4998
I am a firm believer in head coach Ime Udoka's switching defense. Boston struggled with Udoka's defensive concepts to start the season, but has now transformed into the best defensive team in the NBA.
Over the past month, the Celtics have an NBA-best 103.1 defensive rating, a full 3% better than any other NBA team. Forward Jayson Tatum has taken his game to an incredible level, averaging 42.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game, while shooting a blistering 46.3% from beyond the arc. The Celtics are a devastating 17-3 over their last 20 games and have climbed to fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings, just four games behind first-place Miami.
The Celtics lack the overall star power of the Heat, 76ers, Nets, or Bucks, but the proof is in the record. The Eastern Conference has a much better collection of upper-tier teams, giving a championship advantage to whoever reaches the NBA Finals. Defense isn't "sexy," but it is translating to wins, making this 19-to-1 ticket on PropSwap worth strong consideration.
