13 Overvalued Defenders in IDP Fantasy Football Leagues
The regular season is in our purview and we’re in the middle of the preseason, which means, drafts are starting, or maybe you’re in the middle of 10 slow drafts right now. No judgment here.
As we head into draft season, I’m noticing defenders who are being overvalued and undervalued at their draft position. Although I don’t like the term bust, these are guys who are being over-drafted at their current ADP. I’m not touching these defenders at their current price.
Here are some overvalued IDPs to avoid in your IDP fantasy football drafts.
Micah Parsons, LB, Dallas Cowboys
Probably going to be a hot take. Micah Parsons burst onto the scene like a Tasmanian devil. He was slated to play off-ball linebacker, but due to injuries, ended up playing just over 370 snaps on the edge. Unfortunately, it limited his tackle floor and efficiency. The sack numbers were fantastic, but can he repeat those numbers? As an off-ball LB, Parsons had an elite 14.8% tackle rate. As an edge rusher, it dipped to 10%. He’s being drafted as the LB1 according to IDP Guys, and I’ll pass on him at that price.
Darius Leonard, LB, Indianapolis Colts
This has nothing to do with the player and the talent and everything to do with the back injury. Leonard underwent back surgery in June and, according to Cameron Wolfe, they expect the All-Pro LB back “at some point this year.” It appears this back issue will bleed into the regular season and I’m not sure I can trust him as my LB1. Is the risk worth the reward? Taking him as your LB1, you’ll be forced to build around him. I’ve moved him to LB16 in my ranks and would prefer him as my LB2/3 if he falls. I’m not paying the typical price point for Leonard in 2022.
