NCAAB Conference Tournament Betting Preview: Ohio Valley Conference

After beginning the college basketball season under the specter of COVID-19 challenges, we have finally arrived at the glorious month of March. The NCAA Tournament is just two weeks away. It will once again be filled with dominant programs, great players and live mid-major underdogs.

First, though, we are blessed with conference tournament season!

The Ohio Valley Conference Tournament starts on Wednesday, March 2, with nine total games scheduled at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana. Murray State earned the top overall seed with a perfect 18-0 record in the conference, finishing three full games ahead of second-place Belmont. The Racers were predicted third in the preseason poll, failing to receive a single first-place vote. Murray State has now won at least a share of the Ohio Valley regular-season title in four of the past five seasons.

The Ohio Valley Tournament consists of only eight of the top 10 teams in the conference. The games are played on four consecutive days, with the eventual champion earning their title with four straight victories.

Ohio Valley Tournament History

The Ohio Valley Tournament has been historically dominated by Murray State and Belmont. The Racers and Bruins have won six of the past 10 tournaments, including three of the past four. Since the tournament began in 1949, the Racers have won 17 titles. Belmont has won three titles since joining the conference from the Atlantic Sun in the 2012-2013 season.
