Streaming Quarterbacks: Week 17 Targets

Fantasy leagues that play into Week 17 take on additional risk as the regular and fantasy seasons come to a close. The added wrinkle of players possibly sitting out Week 17 or playing less than their normal amount of snaps requires goes outside of normal fantasy matchups. Gamers are required to do additional research into backups and constant monitoring of coach and player interviews throughout the week for some assurance. All for one week and the fantasy championship.

But that’s why we’re here. Admittedly, our last week of streaming recommendations will be a bit shorter with fewer plays to consider in such a high leverage situation. However, we’ll look into playoff scenarios and the latest injuries that may boost or hamper a good play. Congratulations, if you’ve made it this far with the hopes your starting quarterback is unaffected by the Week 17 chaos. As of now, Lamar Jackson, Deshaun Watson, and Josh Allen headline the list of quarterbacks likely resting in Week 17. Their backups aren’t in consideration as it likely means other top options in the office may rest along with their quarterback. We’ve turned to other likely options to help you in the final week of the season.

Week 16 Review

The ‘Tank Bowl’ between the Dolphins and Bengals delivered as promised. Ryan Fitzpatrick finished the first half with 252 yards and three touchdowns and continued on for over 400 yards on the day. On top of his performance, we have a couple of other plays that popped for solid fantasy scores when we needed them. Here’s how the scores ended up with key takeaways below:

The #process held up for Brissett being at home against a defense that had allowed multi-touchdown performances in three of their last five games along with three enemy quarterbacks surpassing 300 yards on the day. Brissett bailed us out with a rushing touchdown, but as the team scored two touchdowns on punt returns he wasn’t required to do much more. Dwayne Haskins was in line for a much larger day until a hit in the third quarter resulted in him being carted off the field. Prior to the hit, he had already thrown two touchdowns and Case Keenum threw for 158 more yards and another score. The composite 29.74 points would result in a QB1 performance, but we’ll take Haskins’ performance given the circumstances.

Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed

And, for the last time, let’s review 4for4's Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed updated through Week 16. Biggest changes include:

  • WAS down 12 spots to #23 (18.8 aFPA)
  • CAR down 9 spots to #13 (15.4 aFPA)
  • SF down 9 spots to #17 (17.4 aFPA)
  • TB up 7 spots to #16 (17.2 aFPA)
  • KC up 9 spots to #6 (14.4 aFPA)
  • PHI up 10 spots to #7 (14.5 aFPA)

New Orleans suffered two injuries on defense with both Eli Apple and Marcus Williams going down in their matchup against the Titans. Ryan Tannehill was able to have a strong outing (23.68 points) against the Saints and their Week 17 matchup against the Panthers isn't as straightforward. Will Grier did not perform to expectations, but D.J. Moore was out with a concussion for most of the game. It makes their Week 17 matchup all the more interesting from a fantasy standpoint, but Grier didn't make the cut for the final week of streaming targets. Other relevant injuries will be discussed below as we get into our top plays of the week.
