IDP Matchups & Sleepers: Week 17
Each week, I'm going to go through our IDP rankings and look at some of the top matchups and sleeper picks for the week at each position. My IDP brother-in-arms, Ross Miles, will have your IDP waiver wire covered. If you have specific questions pertaining to your lineup, you can always refer to the ranks or hit me up on Twitter @Mike_Woellert.
We're at Week 17. I can't believe it's the final week of the regular season. I'd like to thank all of you for following and reading along this season. If you're reading this, I hope you're playing for your title this week! Now, let's see what Week 17 has in store for us.
Linebacker
Donald Payne, ILB, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Indianapolis Colts
Block out the noise regarding the linebacker rotations in Jacksonville. Over the last few weeks, there's been talk about shaking things up, yet Payne continues to call the plays and appear in 100% of the snaps. Payne has recorded 13 or more tackles in four straight, resulting in a ridiculous 19.5% tackle rate. Continue to ride his hot streak against the Colts and Marlon Mack. The Colts offense is allowing 13 tackles per game to opposing ILBs.
Will Compton, ILB, Oakland Raiders vs. Denver Broncos
Like an RKO out of nowhere, that's how Compton has shown up on the IDP radar. Not only is he receiving snaps, but he's also now calling the plays for the defense. He's actually played very well and has looked better than Tahir Whitehead. Over the last two games, he's recording a 17.8% tackle rate - resulting in 21 tackles. The Broncos are allowing 13 tackles per game to opposing ILBs, so Compton should have a productive week.
Fred Warner, ILB, San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks
Continue to ride or die with Warner heading into Week 17. The Seahawks run game is going to look a bit different this week with Travis Homer and the newly signed Marshawn Lynch. In the first tilt, Warner was involved in the pass rush and recorded two sacks to go along with his 10 tackles. I can see Warner deployed in a similar fashion this week. The Seahawks offense is allowing 14 tackles per game to opposing ILBs.
Sleeper
Germaine Pratt, ILB, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns
I think Pratt could be a sleeper this week. After receiving fewer than 70% of the snaps the entire season, he's received at least 70% of the snaps in three straight games - recording eight or more tackles in those games. Pratt could be busy this week if the Browns focus their attention on giving Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt the ball.
