DraftKings Week 17 Slate Breakdown with Cash and GPP Picks
Below you'll find my Week 17 DraftKings cash game and tournament strategies. By offering a general approach to the week, along with a player pool to consider, you should walk away feeling well-equipped no matter your bankroll strategy or game selection process.
The approach to this week is less about statistics and analytics and a bit more about motivation and playing time. During this last week of the season, some teams will be in evaluation mode, resting starters because they can't improve their playoff seeding, or resting starters because they've already been eliminated from the playoffs. The tricky part is that often times we don't know each team's exact plans for this last game. There are certain teams that have everything to play for, so they'll go about the week status quo. Then, of course, there are teams that will play their starters as if it's week one in spite of having nothing to play for. This is a very important week to check back for the weekend update and to also stay in tune with reports on Sunday morning about playing time because I'm sure there will be players added and removed to considerations.
- Adding these players for consideration due to workload increase or opponent rest/injuries: Ryquell Armstead, Steven Sims, Dak Prescott
Main Slate Cash Game Strategy
Jameis Winston ($6,600) can't be overlooked this week just because his Buccaneers squad has nothing to play for. He has been a monster from a fantasy standpoint this season. Since Week 3, he has only missed the 300-yard bonus twice. That's a pretty astonishing stat and gives him a floor of 15 fantasy points on yards alone. The Falcons rank 14th in fantasy points allowed and Jameis cooked them for 29 DraftKings points in their first meeting. I'm not concerned about any rest here for the Buccaneers unless I read otherwise. Though Bruce Arians wasn't the head coach for the Buccaneers previous Week 17 games, they've traditionally played starters, including a Week 17 matchup with the Falcons last season that saw an explosion of fantasy points from Winston and Matt Ryan.
