Yahoo Thanksgiving Day Slate Breakdown

The Thanksgiving slate is usually one of the most fun of the season. Obviously, you have to attack it differently with just three games to choose from, which makes it more of a GPP approach. Overlap in lineups should obviously be expected and I really believe you should continue to favor tournaments on these smaller slates. Let’s take a look at the three games and what stands out.

Quarterback

The quarterback position is really interesting on this slate. Because it is Thanksgiving, the Lions will be playing. However, they will likely be without Matthew Stafford, who continues to nurse his back injury. But you legitimately have three of the better pass defenses in the NFL on this slate in the Bills, Bears and Cowboys. It is no secret that Drew Brees ($31) has the top matchup, facing an improved, but still poor, Falcons defense that is allowing the third-most points per drive in the league (2.46). They are also just one of seven teams in football allowing at least two passing touchdowns per game this season. The last time the Saints faced this Atlanta defense, they scored nine points. I don’t expect that to happen again come Thursday night.
