DET RB Ty Johnson - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Chicago Bears
With Bo Scarbrough taking over as the Lions top RB, Ty Johnson has little fantasy value. In the loss to the Redskins last week he saw six touches for 21 yards. In the Week 10 defeat by the Bears Johnson was limited to only 16 yards on five carries and should not be started on Thanksgiving.

DET RB Ty Johnson - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Washington Redskins
With the emergence of Bo Scarbrough, Ty Johnson’s fantasy value has taken a big dive. Johnson had his chances to take over the Detroit starting RB position, but has been passed over by Tra Carson and now Scarbrough. He’ll get some playing time and carries but, even against a bad Redskins run defense, should not be a part of your starting lineup.

DET RB Ty Johnson - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Dallas Cowboys
The Lions led the Bears for most of the first half last Sunday, with Ty Johnson receiving five carries for 16 yards before leaving with a concussion. J.D. McKissic ended up leading the team with 10 rushing attempts and fill-in QB Jeff Driskel was tops with 37 yards on the ground. The Detroit backfield, which also included Paul Perkins, will remain an RBBC approach, making none of the ball carriers much of a fantasy start. Even if Johnson is cleared to face the Cowboys No. 13 run defense, there must be better options for you to go with over him.

DET RB Ty Johnson - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Chicago Bears
In what has become an RBBC approach for the Lions, Ty Johnson led the team with nine carries but for just 29 yards last week against the Raiders. He added three grabs for seven yards, but was outgained by J.D. McKissic, who totaled 72 yards. Johnson, McKissic and Paul Perkins will all continue to receive rushing attempts, which isn’t good for fantasy owners of either of them. Chicago owns the eighth-best run defense, so it’s advised to look elsewhere for your starting RB.

DET RB Ty Johnson - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Oakland Raiders
The Lions threw the fantasy world for a loop last Sunday, as Tra Carson got the start ahead of Ty Johnson. While Carter led the team with 12 carries for 34 yards, Johnson led the RBs with 24 snaps and finished with 38 total yards on eight touches. Against a solid Raiders run defense, neither Carson nor Johnson should be a part of your fantasy starting lineup.

DET RB Ty Johnson - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. New York Giants
With Kerryon Johnson missing most of last week’s game (and placed on IR), Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissic picked up the RB duties. Ty Johnson finished with 14 touches for 57 yards. While McKissic had the same number of rushing yards on half as many attempts, expect Ty Johnson to start and receive most of the playing time on early downs. In five games the rookie has 83 yards on the ground and 28 of his 35 receiving yards came last Sunday. The Giants are No. 26 versus the run, so Johnson could be a sneaky fantasy start if you’re able to claim him off waivers.

DET RB Ty Johnson - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Green Bay Packers
Ty Johnson has just 17 touches for 61 yards so far this season and looks like he’s now No. 3 on the depth chart behind Kerryon Johnson and J.D. McKissic. If he’s indeed been demoted, there is little reason for him to be taking up a fantasy roster spot.
