Scouting report

NYJ RB Ty Johnson - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Minnesota Vikings
With Michael Carter injuring his ankle, Ty Johnson amounted 78 yards on just six touches. This puts him on the fantasy map as he is expected to share time with Zonovan Knight. Last week, Knight had 14 carries but that could easily flip this week.

The Jets face the Vikings who are ranked 18th in aFPA to running backs. There is a bit of mystery on how New York will use their running backs, but picking up Johnson this week could be useful. We project him to be a low-end RB3 or Flex for Week 13. If you need a back because of injury or the bye weeks, he could be a good pickup.

NYJ RB Ty Johnson - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. New Orleans
With Michael Carter still out and veteran Tevin Coleman not expected to play, Ty Johnson should get the most opportunites at running back for New York this Sunday. His fantasy numbers haven't been very good even when he has gotten some snaps and touches, but now he is the No. 1 option for the Jets.

Even though it's a tough matchup against New Orleans run defense, Johnson should get enough touches to help your team out as an RB3 or flex. He would also be a good waiver wire pickup for Week 14.

NYJ RB Ty Johnson - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Philadelphia
Ty Johnson had only six touches last week and will basically back up veteran Tevin Coleman while rookie RB Michael Carter heals. What was surprising was the lack of involvement in the passing game, a role he took on while Carter was healthy.

The Eagles are ranked 19th in aFPA to running backs so if Johnson gets on the field like last week (34% of the snaps), he should be able to help your team, especially in a PPR league.

Start Johnson as a low-end RB3 or flex for Week 13 and hope he gets back involved in the passing game.

NYJ RB Ty Johnson - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Houston
Ty Johnson will fill in for injured rookie Michael Carter. He will probably split carries with veteran Tevin Coleman. Johnson has 42 carries on the season, but he does have 25 receptions which give him value.

Johnson faces the Texans who are ranked 19th in aFPA to running backs. He should do enough in the passing game to start him as an RB3 or flex in PPR leagues, but keep him on the bench in standard leagues for Week 12.

NYJ RB Ty Johnson - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Miami
Ty Johnson continues to get playing time and putting up fantasy numbers that should at least keep him on the radar. He is really being used in the passing game as he had five receptions last week for 36 yards. He is playing about 1/3 of the snaps in recent weeks.

Jets face the Dolphins who are average against the run. Johnson is probably a bench play for Week 11 unless you are desperate because of injuries. He is close to an RB3/Flex if you need one.

NYJ RB Ty Johnson - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Buffalo
Ty Johnson was on the field a lot more last week - 42% of the plays. This is something to keep an eye on if it becomes a regular trend. He had basically been getting 25% of the snaps behind rookie Michael Carter.

Even with extra plays, Johnson doesn't have enough value to warrant a start or even a roster spot at this time unless you have a really deep league.

NYJ RB Ty Johnson - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Indianapolis
Ty Johnson had a healthy 10 touches on Sunday as a backup to No. 1 back Michael Carter. The results were good, especially in PPR leagues. He had 86 total yards and a touchdown and although the rushes weren't there (only 4), the involvement in the passing game was.

Johnson faces the Colts who are ranked 4th in aFPA to running backs and because of the tough matchup, he still should remain on the bench for Week 9. But if he continues to get around 10 touches, he could end up being a factor as an RB3 or flex down the road.
