Michael Gallup could return slightly sooner than expected but he'll do so with Cooper Rush at the helm, and one would assume they will ease him back into the lineup.

Noah Brown has actually performed admirably in his chance as the team's WR2, ranking 17th in yards per route run (2.5 YPRR) amongst 60 qualifying wide receivers through two weeks. Regardless of who is behind him, CeeDee Lamb should be the focal point of the offense throughout the year.

Jones: Cowboys QB Dak Prescott could be back Week 4

Cowboys owner and General Manager Jerry Jones thinks Dak Prescott may surprise people with how quickly he returns from the injury to his throwing hand.

Jones said on 105.3 The Fan that it’s still too soon to say when Prescott will be back on the field, but it’s possible that he’ll miss only one more game and play in Week 4 against the Commanders.

Fantasy Impact:

Jones has been beating this drum all along, and right after Dak's surgery said the team wouldn't put him on IR, thinking he could be back sooner than later. Obviously there is a lot that can happen between now and Week 4 and we're likely to get a bunch of updates on Prescott and his progress.

Jerry Jones on 105.3 The Fan said Dak Prescott (thumb) won’t be going on injured reserve. He thinks Prescott could play within the next four games.

Apparently the timetable is becoming more optimistic for Prescott following his thumb surgery on Monday. This likely means the team will ride with Rush at QB and won't make any kind of drastic move for another QB. Not going on IR should at least be an indication it will be closer to four weeks instead of the high end of eight weeks.

Dak Prescott is set to have surgery on his fractured right thumb today, which could keep him out until their Bye Week, which takes place in mid-November.

It would seem that the shortest possible timetable would have him returning on October 24th, which is right before the team's bye week. Cooper Rush will take over at quarterback and extend his five career starts this weekend against the Bengals. The Cowboys scored three points in their Week 1 loss against the Buccaneers, with Prescott at the helm for most of the game.
