The Giants had no option really, with all of their injuries. They couldn’t run their regular, explosive, wide-open offense missing their top two receivers and the regular left side of their offensive line.

But even with a scaled-back version of their playbook and formations, Tom Coughlin knew “full well that we gave ourselves plenty of offense to win with.” They were heavier than usual with the run, more basic with their formations.

And that’s the way it’s going to be until the cavalry returns.

“It wasn’t a change of the offense,” Eli Manning said today on a conference call with the media. “It was really just getting down to stuff that we really knew. We probably didn’t do as much three-wide receiver stuff as we might do in a normal game if everyone was healthy. We probably just stayed in our base personnel a little bit more than normal (and used) the guys in there who’ve been here a couple of years, who know the offense. That seemed to work.”
